Note from the importer, Pascal Schildt:
Maison Bruyère & David is a new producer in the Northern Rhone Valley whose first cuvées started with the 2018 vintage. Justin & Sylvain have both taken over their family’s vineyards in some of the most remarkable slopes of the Northern Rhône. They decided to pool their resources...Justin takes care of the vineyards, while Sylvain manages the cellar. Together they craft wines with minimal intervention, that showcase the region’s distinct ability to produce wines with intensity and elegance. Besides their prestigious vineyard holdings, their Vin de France Viognier & Syrah are mere 500m from their Condrieu AOP vines. Their most recent vintages reflect a growth, maturity and above all, purity that is fragrant and delicious. Each vintage showcases an ever greater sense of purpose, vision and focus, somehow perfectly straddling the line between incredibly drinkable and superbly complex. Simply put, their wines are an irresistible sip of the Rhône!
Vineyard are 45-50 years old on limey clay soils located above St Joseph and Côte Rôtie. Grapes are harvested by hand, 100% destemmed vinification. 15 days of maceration at a temperature of 28°C. 75% aged in used barrels, 25% in stainless steel.
This Syrah is a pleasant wine encompassing fruit, roundness, a well-controlled balance as well as a complexity on the finish. Pairs well with red meat or on its own for an aperitif.
