Product description

Domaine de l'Aumonier Au Gré du Vent Pet-Nat NV, Touraine, France

Sophie & Thierry Chardon biodynamically farm (certified) their 47 hectares in the village of Couffy. They started in 1996 with 10 hectares inherited from Sophie’s grandfather, and now their vineyards are split between 26 hectares on the slopes around Couffy, on soils of clay and flint, and 21 hectares around the village of Mareuil sur Cher, on soils of chalk and clay.

Au Gré du Vent is a Chenin Blanc forward blend (the exact blend is unclear) with vibrant notes of apricot, citrus, honey, white flowers, and hints of bread dough backed by soft, fine bubbles, and finishes salty/smoky.

Oyster River Winegrowers American White Wine ME/NY 2022

Oyster River is a nearly 100% self-sustaining farm in Warren, Maine. Brian Smith is the winemaker here, but his approach is about as hands off as you can get. Fermentation is spontaneous, with native yeast, and lasts a long time in the cold winery, heated only with wood from the farm.

American White is Chardonnay grown on the North Fork of Long Island. The warm, dry vintage made for a richer, rounder-style Chardonnay, with lots of tropical fruit. 1/3rd is fermented whole cluster in stainless steel, 1/3rd in old barrels, and 1/3rd soaks on the skins for 48 hours before going into barrel, adding texture, color, umami, and subtle nutty oxidative notes.

Bernaví Vineyards Xalera Terra Alta Blanco 2022, Spain

Bernaví Vineyards is a family-owned artisan winery that offers an immersive experience for wine tourism enthusiasts. Located on the Mas Vernet estate along the Berrús road, the vineyards and winery are surrounded by picturesque landscapes. The vineyards are certified organic and planted at 300-350 meters altitude.

This is a blend of 60% Macabeu which contributes light, floral notes and acidity, and 40% Garnatxa Blanca that adds lemony fruit, salinity, and characteristic texture, along with yellow apple and zesty, savory minerality on the finish.

Gober & Freinbichler Burgenland Chill, Germany 2023

Dominic Gober and Gerald Freinbicher hold choice parcels in Neckenmarkt, in southern Burgenland. They operate organically and are in the process of certification. Chill is a lithe, energetic, all natural fermentation of mostly Zweigelt, which offers up dark fruit, with Merlot and Blaufrankisch for mid-palate weight and savory herbal complexity. Just 11.5% abv, put a chill on it!

Foradori Vigneti dell Dolomiti "Lezèr" 2023 Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol

The first vintage of Lezèr was in 2017, when Elisabetta Foradori's Teroldego crop was damaged by a summer hailstorm. What remained was turned into this short-maceration red wine, named (Lezèr is light" in local dialect) for its light color and body. The family has continued making this vin de soif every vintage since, but they experiment every year with the mix of varieties, vessels, and percentage of whole bunches. The fruit (2023 is 70% Teroldego/15% Schiava/10% Lagrein/5% Merlot) comes from 8 hectares of organic/biodynamically farmed vines in their village and beyond, on the sandy, gravelly alluvial soils typical of the Dolomites. Spontaneous fermentation, short maceration and brief aging take place in a combo of cement, steel, old wood, and amphora. S02 at bottling only. This is a fresh and fruity, raspberry-brambly, tiny-bit earthy, food-friendly glugger.

Domaine Patrice Colin Coteaux Vendomois Pierre François Rouge 2022

The origins of Domaine Patrice Colín go back to 1735; Patrice Colín was the 8th generation to represent the property, located northeast of Vouvray. It totals 28 hectares of (in descending order) Pineau D’Aunis, Chenin, Pinot Noir, Cab Franc, & Chardonnay, planted on flint with a clay-limestone subsoil, with some vines over 100 years old. It’s organic/biodynamic/non-interventionist. The domaine is in its 9th generation, now in the hands of Patrice’s son, Pierre François.

This wine is 75% Pineau d’Aunis, 20% Pinot Noir, and 5% Gamay from 25 year old vines grown on flint and fermented in stainless steel. It’s a vibrant, fruit-forward red with compelling notes of cinnamon and pink peppercorn.
