Vincent Lacoste is the sixth generation of winegrowers at Château de Cranne in Cadillac, in South-Gironde. Trained in Anjou, he has a light Loire-like approach; he seeks “drinkability, freshness, suppleness, and a low level of alcohol”—not so easy with rising temps. Vincent is experimenting with many varieties, cuvées, and fermentation methods as climate change and its fallout continue to have an impact everywhere, including Bordeaux. He has chosen to work with Malbec for its mildew-resistant qualities. The Artisan Vigneron line is where he lets his freak flag fly a bit. His artist friends design the labels, and all the wines adhere to the same organic standards as the rest of the estate, though some go further into natural.
