June 12th, 2020 Newsletter

We are still curbside/delivery only.

Our E-Comm is the easiest way to order, but feel free to call or email if you need guidance or aren't a fan of online shopping. Pay at the door walk-ups are ok too, but unfortunately we are not yet accepting cash.

It's Friday.

Sorry we missed last week. 2020 has been (insert “gestures wildly” cliché) and the past couple of weeks have been (insert “gestures even MORE wildly” cliché). We got a little lost in the chaos. But amongst the righteous rage and grief, we discovered a little tide pool of calm and peace, right here in Rhode Island: Movement Ground Farm in Tiverton.

Their vision and mission:  We believe in a world where all individuals and families are empowered, sustained, and grounded by an intimate connection to land, food, and community.  Movement Ground Farm is premised on a vision that we have the ability to heal our bodies, restore our spirits, build our own systems, and fight for our highest ideals.

We envision a day where communities who have historically been uprooted and displaced due to land theft, slavery, war, gentrification, development, and environmental destruction, can once again turn to land as a source of healing, sustenance, empowerment, reflection, and guidance.

Our mission is to grow a sustainable, collaborative community-based farm that has the capacity to feed, inspire, and connect landless, displaced, and disenfranchised communities.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been asking ourselves what and how we can further contribute to the cause of racial justice and equality as a business. Is it through fundraising efforts for places that we already support as individuals, like The Marshall Project? The Innocence Project? National Bail Fund? All worthy beyond measure! But a friend tipped us off to Movement Ground Farm, and we decided to keep it local.

So we’re going to try a two-tiered fundraiser for Movement Ground Farm and see what we can do.

**Update**

Tier one is sold out. We raised $900 with the sale of a bottle of Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 year Old Whiskey and a 1980 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon!

Tier Two goes through Friday, June 19th, 2020: we're donating 10% of the proceeds from the sale of Anchor & Hope Wines, RI's only negociant winery.

Also, our staff member, Ali Carter, is selling stickers to raise money for the NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund. Buy some! Stick them around town!
